Lawrence A. Jacobson
Executive Director

Larry Jacobson is the executive director of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He is chief staff officer and responsible for the day-to-day business operations of the Society.

Mr. Jacobson has extensive experience managing national and international nonprofit membership organizations as the chief staff executive. Prior assignments include the Building Owners and Managers Institute, the National Association for Search and Rescue, the Association of Specialists in Cleaning and Restoration, and the MATHCOUNTS Foundation. Prior to entering the world of tax-exempt organizations, he spent 15 years in for-profit corporations, notably 10 years with ServiceMaster, managing all phases of North American franchise sales, marketing, and operations in the U.S. and Canada.

His varied employments have taken him from New York to Chicago to San Francisco, and for the past 25 years he has worked in the Washington/Baltimore area. Mr. Jacobson earned a B.S. in History and M.S. in Theology/Church History from Wheaton College in Illinois and a J.D. from John Marshall Law School, Chicago. He was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1984.

Larry and his wife, Carol, reside in Severna Park, Maryland, and have four adult children.
